TRAVEL TIPS

As there is no international airport in Rajasthan the following information applies to all visitors entering India through International Airports:-

  • Required Travel Documents : On arrival in India you must produce a valid passport or other document satisfactory establishing your identity and nationality Indian visa from the Indian consulates in your country.

  • International Certificate Of Vaccination : Yes, yellow fever vaccination would be required if you’re infected or endemic areas.

  • Medical / Travel Insurance : It is advisable to take both to cover theft, loss or illness.

  • Foreign Travel Tax : Rs. 500 has to be paid at the airport as foreign travel tax.

  • Tax Clearance Certificate : If you stay in India more then 120 days you would be required to furnish a tax clearance certificate to leave the country. This is to prove that you did not earn money while in India.

  • How much Money One can bring : One may bring as much money as you wish. There is no restriction on the amount of travelers cheques changed.

  • The Indian Money System : Though the rates keep fluctuating, one dollar is roughly equitant to Rs. 45.50 Indian rupees. Indian rupees are available in denomination of 1,2,5,10,20,50,100,500,1000. ( the exchange rates are published everyday in national news papers).

  • Working Hours Of Banks and Post Offices : Opening hours for all banks are 10 am to 2 pm on weekdays. Till noon Saturday. All banks are closed on Sundays & public holidays.

  • Should One Tip : It is generally advisable to pay 10% to 15% of the billed amount.

  • The Voltage / Electricity : The standard voltage throughout the country is 220 volts. It is advised that one should carry a three pin plug to suit the same.

  • The Road Regulations : Unlike other countries, in India we drive on the left of the road and overtake on the right.

  • What To Wear ? : Light cottons if you’re here from august to November. Light to heavy woolens in December and January. For women it is advisable to be a little conservatively dressed. Long Skirts, Shirts & Jeans or dresses are practical and comfortable.

  • Must Carry : Sun-screen lotion, Camera, Binoculars, Hats, Trainers (Shoes).
